Overview of Present-day Hingoli District

On 1st May 1999, Hingoli district was officially formed through the bifurcation of Parbhani district. Originally, Hingoli functioned as a taluka within Parbhani and was historically part of the Nizam’s regime. Due to its strategic location near the Vidarbha border, it served as an important military base during the Nizam’s rule. The region that constitutes present-day Hingoli had been part of the Bombay State since 1956 and was incorporated into Maharashtra upon the state’s formation in 1960, continuing to remain under Parbhani district. With the reorganization in 1999, Hingoli was carved into a separate district comprising five talukas: Hingoli, Kalamanuri, Sengaon, Aundha Naganath, and Basmat.
