Jalgaon district has a well-structured network of police stations spread across major towns, talukas, and key locations, ensuring law and order in urban and rural areas alike. With a total of 25 police stations, important centers include Jalgaon City, Bhusawal, Chalisgaon, Amalner, and Pachora, among others.
The presence of police stations in industrial hubs like MIDC and major commercial areas such as Jalgaon City and Bhusawal plays a crucial role in crime prevention, traffic regulation, and public safety. Additionally, law enforcement in rural regions ensures the protection of agricultural communities and local markets.
Community Perception of Safety
In Jalgaon district, police officers are commonly referred to as "Kaka," a term that reflects both respect and familiarity, reinforcing the strong connection between the police force and the local community.
In Jalgaon, safety for women and children remains a concern, especially after dark. During the day, parents feel relatively at ease, allowing their children to move around independently. However, at night, incidents such as thefts, harassment, and occasional violence contribute to heightened caution, particularly among women and parents of young children.
A significant historical case that brought attention to Jalgaon's safety challenges was the 1994 Jalgaon rape case, which exposed a network of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The case drew nationwide media attention and even inspired the film Mardaani, shedding light on the urgent need for stronger protective measures for women. While the district generally maintains peace during the day, improving safety for vulnerable groups at night remains a priority.
